First boss: HALFUS WYRMBREAKER

Main abilities

Boss:
1. Furious Roar; very similar to the silence the bone sentinel adds inside ICC do, deals damage and knocks the raid to the ground. However does not cause spell lock.
2. Shadow Nova; Deals 28-31k damage and knocks everyone back. This ability is only active when a certain drake is up.
3. Gains buffs from the drakes active, this depends entirely on which ones are active (maximum of two on 10 man).

-Proto-Behemoth: Flies over the raid and throws fireballs at random people, just like razorscale air phase it's a constant in the fight and cannot be killed. The fire balls deal damage and splash damage so you need to keep spread out if you can. He also does a flame AoE attack, similar to onyxia but isn't avoidable. This deals a fair amount of raid damage.

The Drakes: Random two each lockout
---->Storm Rider - Activates Halfus' "Shadow Nova" spell (needs to be interrupted) Releasing the Storm Rider reduces the cast time of Shadow Nova by 100%, making it possible to interrupt.
---->The Time Warden - casts a rooting debuff on players, including the protodrake's fireballs, which will also travel much more slowly across the room.
---->The Slate Dragon - When the Slate dragon is one of the active drakes, Halfus gains malevolent strikes. This stacking debuff is applied on each melee hit and reduces incoming heals by 5%. When you talk to Slate to set him free, he periodically stuns Halfus for 12 seconds.
---->Nether Scion - When the Nether Scion is one of the active drakes, Halfus gains attack speed. When you talk to Scion to set him free, he reduces the attack speed, hit chance, and damage of Halfus by 25%.
---->Orphaned Emeraled Whelp - If the whelps are let out of the cage, they significantly reduce the damage of the Proto Drake's flame breath.

When these die they weaken Halfus. Releasing one drake at a time and killing both then killing the weakened Halfus down is the -only- way to do this fight.

Tactic modifier:

If Slate Dragon and Nether Scion are active then tank swapping must occur when the healing debuff gets to 60%. It's ideal to release and kill these at the same time to maximise the debuffs on the boss however it's very tricky to do. Only a few tank swaps have to occur before the first drake goes down, kill the Nether Scion first to slow the stacking of Malevolent strikes.

The Whelps: It's recommended that the whelps are killed along with one of the drakes that are active, you don't have to kill both active drakes, Each drake death puts debuffs on Halfus and also increases damage done to him by 50%.
HOWEVER: Halfus uses Ferocious Roar in the later stages of the fight and if this occurs at the same time the Proto-Behemoth does his flame attack it can wipe the raid which is why it is recommended to whelps go down to reduce the damage from the proto-behemoth.

More information on the drakes:

Nether Scion:

Applies a raid-wide debuff giving 15% less hit chance, 15% attack speed reduction and 25% less damage, lasting until the drake dies. When it does die, this debuff is then applied to Halfus.

Halfus also gains an extra ability with this drake - Frenzied Assault. It doubles his attack speed for the entire encounter (removed when the Nether Scion dies).

Slate Dragon:

Does very nasty tank damage, and a raid-wide stun every so often for 8-10 seconds, which should also reduce all damage taken by 100% for the duration, but seems a bit buggy at the moment. When that stun fades, Halfus gets stunned for the same duration and gets increased damage received.

Halfus also gains an extra ability with the Slate Dragon - Malevolent Strikes. What this does is whenever the boss deals damage to anyone, they get a stacking healing reduction debuff. This means you need to tankswap often, and the whirlwind phase is a bastard for melee.

Time Warden:

For the time this dragon is alive, the entire raid is fully rooted and unable to move at all. This is removable with escape artist/cloak etc, but is re-applied every 2-3 seconds.

This dragon also slows the flight time of the Proto-Behemoth's Fireballs by quite a lot so they are easily avoidable (not that it really changes much, the damage is easy to heal).

Storm Rider:

While this drake is active, you are only able to cast instant-cast spells, as he does a raid-wide interrupt every 0.5 seconds or so.

The boss also gains a new ability with this dragon, Shadow Nova: short cast aoe damage and a knockback to everyone. It's a very fast cast time and therefore virtually impossible to interrupt.

When the Storm Rider dies however, the boss gets a debuff slowing his casting speed so Shadow Nova is a 4.5 second cast, and is therefore easily interruptible.

Orphaned Emerald Whelps:

No special abilities, just a raid-wide debuff reducing all damage done by 2000. AoEable.

When they spawn they also shoot some poison things at the Proto-Behemoth, giving him a permanent damage reduction, making the incoming damage a lot smaller (even tho it wasn’t exactly high to begin with).

8 of them spawn on 10 and 25. 518k health each on 10 man
